BONZA BAMBOO is situated on 167 north facing acres in the beautiful Pocket valley
northern NSW close to Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay
and within easy driving distance to many national parks, beaches, Byron Bluesfest, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival and Mullum Music Festival.
If you are looking for an interesting place to stay with a difference,
close to the coast and many beautiful national parks, then this is the place for you!
The "Bali Building" is a huge 170 square metres.
It's a unique intimate space for a relaxing, peaceful stay
overlooking a giant bamboo plantation.
A great romantic getaway!
This property is secluded but conveniently located in the north of the Byron Shire;
5 km from the Pacific Highway and 40 minutes to Coolangatta-Gold Coast airport. Brisbane is a 2 hour drive away.
We currently have 6 acres of mature tropical clumping bamboos made up of over
40 species which we draw upon to fill our orders.
Our ambitious plan over the next several decades is to plant out the rest
of our property with a mixture of bamboos,
native flowering trees and cabinet timber species.
The tropical garden atmosphere with giant bamboos and palm trees
is the backdrop for our Asian inspired "Bali Building".
This handcrafted building is beautifully furnished with all sorts of
wonderful things that we have made from bamboo and recycled materials;
from lamps to tables to couches.
You can relax on the 2nd storey verandah overlooking the bamboo plantation
or get comfortable with a book on the generous bamboo couches downstairs.
Upstairs accommodation includes 1 large bedroom with a queen size bed
with a loft at one end.
The bedroom opens out onto a comfortable verandah overlooking the bamboo plantation with built in day beds for those wanting a lazy, peaceful break.
Downstairs there's a spacious lounge room, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area,
a bathroom with a shower and a separate toilet.
There's another verandah off the kitchen area also overlooking the
bamboo plantation. A great spot to relax and chat.
There's a ceiling fan in the upstairs bedroom and we have several pedestal fans available for those extra hot days :)
We provide tea and coffee, bread, butter, milk and a variety of spreads and muesli.
For those who want to cook we'll provide the basic condiments and there will be seasonally fresh herbs from the garden.
Other things to note
We do not get mobile phone or TV reception on the property.
There is a CD player and a TV and DVD player if you wish to bring along your favourite movies or CD's and we have a selection of CD's and DVD's here that you can use.
NB. Free Wireless Internet is available.
A torch would be handy if you are going out at night.
The hosts' living space and the original farmhouse is close by but still private.
This is a rural property and access is from The Pocket Rd through our neighbour's cattle property on an unsealed road. In the interests of your vehicle and the maintenance of the road it is very important to drive slowly,
(no more than 15 km/h) and look out for cows, calves and cow poo!
Occasionally gates will be closed between paddocks so please close them
again after you have driven through.
Sometimes the cattle will congregate around the closed gate.
Don't be alarmed! If you drive very, very slowly they will move out of the way.
